Day Six…. exhausted, beaten and bruised

p5250266

I am a day behind with these posts due to fact that I have been freaking tired, but better late than never.   Our last day we floated the South Fork again.  We wanted to get on the river a bit earlier so we could head home at a decent time.  The day was slow but still good.   Even though the White Fish loved everything we put in the water we all caught some great Cutthroats and Rainbows.  It was sad to see this years Fly Fishing Frenzy come to an end but the good thing is that we are already planning and looking forward to next year.

If there is one thing I hope people got out of these posts and pics is that you should get a group of friends together and plan your own Frenzy.  There is no reason us fisherman that have day jobs, wife, kids and what ever else can’t set a side one week out of the year to get out to the rivers and lakes to fish so hard we come back exhausted, beaten and bruised.

We are going to do a complete write up soon to show our true colors.

Day Five….24 inch Cutthroat

p5240245

Day five started with us eating a great breakfast and getting to the South Fork at about 10.  We put in a bit lower than the Palisades Dam so we could get to the really good water quicker.  The weather was cloudy and ended up dumping rain on us for about half of the day.  We caught a ton of fish mostly Rainbows and Cutthroats.  Chubbs stole the day whit a 24 inch Cutthroat.  CRAZY HUGE!!!!  Over all one of the best floats I have had on the South Fork.  We did hunt for some spawners on the bank and hooked up on some nice fish.  Great day.

Day Three….Madison River Rules!!!

Today we hit the Frenzy Favorite, the Madison River.  We got to the river earlier in the morning and were not disappointed by catching well over 100 fish between everyone.  After the Madison we hit West Yellowstone for lunch at the Bear Tooth BBQ.  After lunch we went to Hebgan Lake and fished the shore area and caught some awesome fish.  I wish I was more detailed but I am to tired to spend time writing.

Day Two…Wolverine and the HossHawk

On day two we started off fishing Rainbow Lake for a few hours landing a bunch of Bass and a few Rainbow.  We had our fisherman’s breakfast around 10:30ish and headed to float the Henry’s Fork from Vernon to Chester.  The fishing was a little slow but good.  We then grabbed a bite to eat at the Frostop in Ashton and finished up the day fishing above and below the Ashton Bridge.  Sorry I would give more detail but it is 12:30 in the morning and I have to be up at 4:30 to start breakfast.  Here are some pics from the day. Oh ya Chubbs and Me got a bit rowdy, he shaved a Wolverine style beard and I did what we call now the HossHawk.

Day One….7 Pound Brown

p5201032-colorWe left Utah at 4am, stoped at Daniels Reservoir for about an hour.  We caught one nice Rainbow there and then took off so we could have time on Henry’s Fork.  We ended up getting to our spot on HF at 10:30ish and spent most of the day fishing deep runs with a combination of Rubber Leggs, Pink San Jaun Worms, Hare Ears and really anything that the fish could spot in the off color water.  It was windy all day so when we had enough of fighting the gusts we had our Frenzy kick off diner and finished the day at Rainbow Lake hunting for Rainbows and Tiger Musky.  We caught a bunch of fish and also set a Frenzy record with a 24inch Brown.
