Rainbow Lake
Santa Catches a Tiger Muskie!

Fly Fishing for Tiger Muskie on Rainbow Lake
So Rowdy (aka, Santa Clause, Moses, insert beard nickname here) called me last Thursday and asked if he could take a newbie to Rainbow Lake to show him the finer points of Fly Fishing. I said, “sure, no problem”. Well, about 2 hours later I got a text saying that rowdy nailed a 40 + inch Tiger Muskie! I will get to the story behind it later (it is hilarious).
About 3 years ago we put some Tiger Muskie in our Rainbow Lake to help cut back on the bass population. They told us to expect those Tigers to grow about 12inches a year and sure enough, they look like they are on track.
Back to the story. I have probably cast 200 times specifically targeting those Muskies, but to no avail. When I asked Rowdy what had happened, he told me that he let his buddy use his 5 wt and he started casting with his 2 wt to nail a few bass. After a few casts, Rowdy thought he had nailed a big trout. Well, after battling this beast on the 2 wt (no kidding a 2wt) with 3X he got it into shore. Only Rowdy! Well the proof is below and it has got me amped to get out and rope some Tigers!
Don’t horse it in….

Fly Fishing Rainbow Lake
So, 3 years ago we put Tiger Muskie in Rainbow Lake. We did it to add a predatory fish in there to help keep the Bass population down. They say that the Muskies grow about 12 inches per year. They also say they are called the ‘Fish of 1000 Casts’. And both hold true.
I have thrown about 658 casts at them with my 12 weight, so I have 342 casts to go to land one. However, my nephew who lives on the lake casts at those everyday with his traditional tackle and a week ago he nailed one. And it was about 38 inches.
Anyway, I wanted to give a quick update on their progress and show a pic of these beauties.
ENJOY!

Fly Fishing Rainbow Lake, Idaho
open source video, online video platform, video solutionWhenever I am up in Idaho, I try to sneak away for a few hours and fish Rainbow Lake in Rexburg Idaho. It is a private pond that we own that is stocked with trophy Bass, trophy Rainbow Trout, and near 40 + inch Tiger Muskies. Rainbow Lake also always has abundant wildlife surrounding its borders. There is a Bald Eagle that has been hanging anxiously around the lake and it has tried its hand at 18 inch rainbows. Sometimes the Eagle wins, but sometimes the trout will get away, but not without a scar to show its buddies as evidenced by the back of the wounded trout.
I was up a few weeks ago and took a few pics/video.
As the summer gets closer, keep you eye on the Frenzy site for information regarding Rainbow Lake and the Frenzy Nation.
10 Minutes On Rainbow Lake
Dec 8th
Written by Aaron “Chubbs” Peterson
So, I was in the land of milk and honey (Idaho) on the 5th and decided I would go weather the elements in frigid Rexburg Idaho and fish for a few minutes on Rainbow Lake. My goal was to re-affirm my faith that Rainbow Lake produces huge bows in a matter of minutes. 10 minutes later I had 1 nice fatty, wind burned cheeks, and 8 frozen digits. I looked up on weather.com and it showed temperature in Rexburg at 24 degrees, but it felt like 5 degrees. Regardless, Rainbow Lake remains a prized possession for the Fly Fishing Frenzy group to catch trophy rainbow trout, bass, and muskie. Even with the frozen digits, I got a few pics of the Lake and the beautiful bow that put up a tremendous fight.
