Fly Fishing Gear

Albright Products Review

I had seen many ads on Facebook and in my email from Albright Fly Fish about the sales they were having and the timing was right for my buddy.  He has been fishing more lately and needed to get some new waders, boots and reel.  I refereed him to check out the site because the pricing was unbelievably low.   After looking at the products they had on their site I new that their products were not on the level with a company like Simms but still looked like good quality.  Now, by me saying their stuff isn’t as good as Simms is in no way a  bash on Albright because I’m sure they would say that right now they don’t have anything to compete with Simms.

My buddy isn’t a fly fisherman that goes once a week so my initial thought after reading the product discrption was for the prices I thought Albright would be a good option.  He ended up ordering the Bridgestone Waders $39.99, Bridgestone Boots $29.99 and a Bugati Reel $34.99 . Over all I think with shipping he spend a little over $120.00.

I was with him the first time he used them and I can say for the money I was impressed with the quality of their products.

A couple side noes:

I think their website is awesome as well.  It is clean and looks great.  Odering off the site was simple and we even called and talked to someone and they were very hlepful and potlite to talk to.

Albright has Rods, Reels, Waders, Boots, Line and Flies.  Besides the waders, boots and reel that my buddy bought they have other models of these products that have better options and other bells and whistles.

Out of these three products that my buddy bought I was most impressed with the Bugati Reel.  The reel had the feel of a reel that would last a very long time and had all the things you look for in a top of the line reel.

Overall I think Albright has some amazing deals and the quality of their product is great.  They have handful of products including waders, rods and reels that are a little more expensive and have other featuresI will for sure order stuff them for myself and would recommend anyone to look at what they have.

Get Your Fly Fishing Gear On With the Best Deals of the Year

So, I have been searching for the best deals on Waders for the last month. I have been to fly shops, Cabelas, and online stores. I thought the journey of my research would be helpful to fellow frenziers on the Fly Fishing Frenzy.

I have compiled my research and analysis below:

I first started by asking some close friends on what waders and boots I should get. I was instructed to get Orvis Guide 3 Waders. My mind was set that those were the ones I wanted, but I wanted to find the best deal. I then sent an email to the
Fly Fishing Frenzy Group on Facebook

A group that consists of about 350 rowdy frenziers. I received tons of great feedback and some even suggested other brands. The brands that stuck out were Cloudveil and Simms.

I decided that I wasn’t completely decided. :) So, I started the research on Cloudveil and Simms. After much deliberation I decided I was either going to get the Cloudveil 8X Waders or the Simms G3 Guide Waders. I just needed to find the best deal. The deal hunting went as follows.

Fly Shop - These places are great. The ambiance alone can keep me there for hours. They had many great brands, but the prices were still at retail without many discounts. I will say this about Fly Shops; if you can buy from them, DO. These people don’t do what they do for the money. They do it for the love of the sport, and they are extremely helpful. The shop I frequent here in Utah County Utah is Eddie Robinson’s Fly Shop in Orem, Utah.

Cabelas or Large Retailers – They are what they are, Large Retailers. They have plenty of selection, but also pretty high on the price category unless you can occasionally spot a deal in the Bargain Bin.

Online Stores – This is where I hit the motherload. I was so surprised by how many places had so many great deals on fly fishing gear. After a ton of research I decided to go with Cloudveil over Simms, and found some Brand New Cloudveil 8X Waders for $240.00 on Sierra Trading Post with an additional 10% discount on that price for being a first time shopper. Thanks to Gene Simmons for that one. I was pumped because they typically retail for $475.

However, I found a snag. They only had those available in XL. I am chubby, but unfortunately, not quite chubby enough (if you are a bit chubbier than me and are a XL, then get em quick). Hence, the nickname Chubbs Peterson. So I continued my search and was brought to a glorious website called Shop Wiki This site gives you the list of stores carrying whatever product you desire and lists the prices attached to every store or website.

I typed in Cloudveil 8X Waders and it brought up 9 results with about 20 different stores ranging from $240 to $475 in price. Sierra Trading Post was the best deal, but as I mentioned, not my size. I did however, find some in my size for $318 with free shipping at Little River Outfitters I was still pretty dang excited for landing that deal on those sweet waders.

Here are the sites I bookmarked during my research for future reference on great deals for Fly Fishing Gear:

Sierra Trading Post

Front Range Anglers

Little River Outfitters

Shop Wiki

Ramsey Outdoor

The Trout Shop

Most of the time here at the Fly Fishing Frenzy, we will write about Rowdy Fishing Adventures. However, I thought with the economic strain much of the world is facing we could all use a little extra coin this year by finding the best deals out there.
Good Luck to all in 2009 and be sure to Get Your Fish On!
