The Film Tour Update

Those that didn’t go to the Fly Fishing Film Tour in SLC the other night missed out. It was a sold out show and the films this year were just as good or better than last year. Not only did I win a hat and a gift certificate from Fish West but I was able to meet a few people that I chat with on Facebook and Twitter. Overall it was a great night and I cant wait until next year.

Fly Fishing Film Tour hits the Big Sky Country

Fly Fishing Film Tour Update
The Blue Roycster Cult and I head out last Thursday to Bozeman, Montana to hit the Fly Fishing Film Tour. We ventured north to Island Park Idaho and then cruised up past Ennis, MT. We then turned on HWY 84 at Norris and cruised right to Bozeman. It was a great trip because I was able to soak in some Sage Advice from Royce and see some good wildlife.
We arrived at the Emerson Center and saw the fellas getting ready. Mac Rowdy was in full effect with his red beard occupying most of the space on his glowing dome.
As for the films, it started a bit slow, but once Metalhead hit the big screen, it was on! That film is DOPE! I also really liked Heads or Tails and High in the Lowlands.
- Metalhead was just awesome footage of the fellas getting lost and rowdy somewhere in Northern Canada, hunting steelhead.
- Heads of Tails was Rad! It showcased some awesome footage of Permit fishing in Western Australia. I didn’t even know they were there. And, I am not talking about sight casting to one Permit (although that option exists), but these blokes were finding huge schools of them. Pretty Unreal!
- High in the Lowlands showed the remote parts of the very diverse Everglades and these boys were targeting monster Snook! Those fish look awesome.
- I will also give props to Once in a Blue Moon which had some serious trout fishing in New Zealand.
I ain’t gonna lie. I thought the films last year were all pretty awesome, each one catching my attention. This year there definitely were some blow out films, but also some slower ones. It didn’t seem that way last year.
Overall, it was a fantastic time and the Webeye Media group (Rowdy, Thad, and the other fellas) did an outstanding job of making it a great time.

It has been about a month and a half since the Fly Fishing FilmTour passed through Salt Lake City. I was super impressed with the quality of films that adorned the agenda.
As we look back, we wanted to highlight some of the great films out there. One of the Frenziers favorite was ‘Rivers of a Lost Coast”
At the turn of the 20th Century, a handful of pioneers carried their fly rods into California’s remote north coast and gave birth to a culture that would revolutionize their sport. For a select few, steelhead fly fishing became an obsessive pursuit without compromise.
Leading the pack was the mythical, Bill Schaadt, an off-kilter angler famous for his ruthless pursuit to be ‘in the fish’. The new endeavor was ruled by a demanding, unspoken code, which made ‘breaking in’ almost as difficult as ‘breaking out’.
By the early 1980s, the Golden State’s coastal fisheries found themselves caught in a spiraling decline. As California searched for its disappearing salmon and steelhead, these men foraged for their souls.
