First Fish of the New Year

River Report:

Went fishing on New Years Day with Julian Riley and Emily Blankenship.  We met up on the Middle Provo at around 1130.  When we got there it was about 17 degrees, which isn’t to bad but what made it bearable is that there was no breeze and the sun was out for the most part of afternoon.  Water levels were great and water was supper clear.  I have noticed lately that the lower and middle sections of the provo river have had more dirt and silt on the rocks that I remember in years past.  I imagine it has something to do with the how they regulated the water levels this year.  We fished with really small midges, dries and nymphs.  Overall the day was great, not as warm as we wanted but good enough.
