Frenzy Trip 2012 the year of the streamer.
The past weekend we had our annual Fly Fishing Frenzy trip. Every year the same group of guys get together and spend about a week in Montana and Idaho fly fishing. This go around we had a smaller number of guys but still just as fun. We started the week off right by fishing the Henry’s Fork around the Saint Anthony area. We didn’t have the best of luck there but the water and scenery were great and we actually ran into a few Moose. After that stretch we fished the outlet on Henry’s Lake. We had an amazing time sight fishing and targeting the big Cutts. After that and over the next few days we fished in and out of West Yellowstone area. We hit the main Madison River, Hebgen Lake, Grayling Creek and the couple other smaller rivers. This year we fished about %80 of the time with what we like to call “Big and Nastys” aka “Meat” or commonly known, streamers. This year was for sure the year of the streamer. Even though we could have had some amazing numbers of fish caught we wanted to work hard for the chance to get the big dawg of the river. We did end up landing a few very nice fish that slammed our streamers. I have come to a conclusion that streamer fishing is extremely addictive and even above that is the addiction to buy every tasty and nasty streamer you see in a fly shop. Below are some pics of the streamers we used and some of the fish that graced us with their presence. Most of these flies are Kelly Galloup streamers.
Streamers used:
Bling Bling Pearl and Gold

Barley Legal

Circus Peanut Olive and Black

Peanut Envy Black/Olive

Galloup’s SDungeon Black

Nice work! We’ve been doing pretty good on the streamers as well. The “legs for days” from Carolina Fly has been my best producer.
