Frenzy, Frenzy Giveaways

A couple years ago when we started out site Kirk Werner sent me a couple of his books.  I have four kids and I have read his books to all four.  They are a great book for kids and it helps to read them these books at a young age so that it will hopefully shape them into fly fishermen and fly fisherwomen….haha.

Kirk has given us three signed copies of his books.  We are going to give them away via our Fly Fishing Facebook Page.  This will basically be a 2 1/2 day photo contest.  It will end Saturday night at midnight.  Post your fishing picture to our page and we will randomly select three winners from all the submissions.   You don’t have to have the most likes or have the coolest one, just post a picture. Here is some info taken from Kirk’s website.  Olive The Woolly Bugger

An astute angler understands that one of the most important things they can do is to pass along their love for our natural resources to the next generation. There’s no better way to instill respect for the environment and passion for the outdoors than to get children hooked on fly-fishing at a young age. And there’s no better way to do this than with Kirk Werner’s series of children’s fly-fishing books.

Olive the Woolly Bugger is the central character in a series of fly fishing books for kids. Through these books kids learn about fly fishing, conservation and much more as Olive takes young readers along on her many adventures where she meets new friends and fish. But just as there’s more to fishing than just catching fish, there’s more to Olive than just fishing. Olive also learns life lessons about perseverance, kindness and respect for others.

There are three books to date with more planned for the future. The books are widely available online and at your local fly shop (if they don’t carry them they can order them through their book distributor). You can also order them direct from the publisher here.

Olive the Little Woolly Bugger
“You’re not one of us, so SCRAM!”

Olive the Woolly Bugger wants to be a dry fly like her colorful companions at Camp Tightloops, Randal the Royal Coachman, Sally the Yellow Sally, and Stan the Stimulator. Try as she might, Olive just can’t float like the snobby dry flies, but the drab little streamer fly soon learns what she can do! Dive in and discover why being different is what makes Olive a splashing success. Whether you’re just getting your feet wet or you have an in-depth knowledge of fly-fishing, Olive teaches an important lesson about perseverance and respecting others.

Olive and The Big Stream

“Will a fish catch me, or will I catch a fish?”

Join Olive, the little-streamer-fly-that-could, Gilbert the Gold-Ribbed Hare’s Ear, Polly the Partridge and Orange, and the rest of the Camp Tightloops gang as they follow their dreams down The Big Stream. Zip and dart along with Olive as the importance of catching and releasing a wild trout finally sinks in. Fly-fishing fans young and old will agree that Olive is the real “keeper” in this action-packed, fact-filled sequel to Olive The Little Woolly Bugger.

Olive Goes for a Wild Ride

“It’s a waterfall! Quick – swim back upstream!”

Olive the Woolly Bugger is back for another fast-paced adventure as she Goes for a Wild Ride. This time Olive snags a new friend, Clark, the small fry with a big heart. Together, the darting duo head downstream where they run into everything from Sockeyed Jack, the spawning salmon, to all other walks of wildlife. Even a terrifying tumble over the waterfall doesn’t dampen Olive’s spirits as she discovers the fascinating circle of life – in and along the river. Ideal for fly-fishing veterans and rookies alike, this third tale in the Olive series reminds us what makes the great outdoors so great.
