Taking Your Time

Thoughts

fly fishing provo riverI saw this video and it made me think of how I feel like I have evolved over the last few years with fly fishing.  I now love fishing to the hard to catch trout.  I love getting to the river and having to figure out what they are feeding on and not just throw on the fly that worked last time.  I love hunting for trout.  I love sneaking up to a fish and testing my skills against its skills.  I love the feeling I get when I catch that fish and then let it go knowing that at least that time I won.  I love being able to catch fish when other anglers around aren’t.  I love sharing my knowledge with other anglers, even if it is just what I learned that specific day in those specific conditions.  I love taking me time, watch the water, looking under rocks, smelling the air and listening to the river.  I love my Orvis Helios 10ft 4wt rod.  I love fishing streamers to big fish.  I love fly fishing.

This video is an awesome example of being calm and having patience when you see that big fish. The guy hides behind the log to conceal himself and his movements. Even when he gets his flies caught in a tree he doesn’t panic and with slow movements is able to get them out.

I know, i love how he is just so calm. Looking at a huge fish like that it is easy to get over anxious and mess up. he was a cool customer.
