Most of my journeys to my favorite fishing holes are by myself. The solitude and serenity of being one with the water is an extrordinary experience. I often find myself thinking drifting off into happy thoughts when alone with my finned friends. Each slurp on top of the water and every trout jumping into the air…just gets me all crazy! This is why I am here…to enjoy and figure out what nature and fly fishing is all about. But, isn’t it also fun to share these moments with others?? You bet it is. There is a time and a place for both scenerios. And sometimes that other person with you can tell you what fly is working for him… : )
This is why we go fishing sometimes with our buddies…Because it isn’t as much fun to fish in the snow alone!! And if you can add a great box lunch and some music (bag pipes here!)…You don’t even notice how cold it is…you are having too much fun! Of course, why wouldn’t we be happy…we were on the Madison River in MT… Here’s a reason to bring along a fishing buddy…to hold your net and take a picture of you all at the same time!! Cool…I don’t take too many pictures when I fish alone…so this was a definite plus! A team effort is always appreciated…I have learned on my many journeys out, that fishing buddies know about different waters than I do. I love nothing more than to adventure out to a new spot. And if your fishing buddy asks you to keep that piece of water a secret…respect his wishes. You know that is what you would want from him if tables were turned! So, next time you head out to the river or lake, take along a fishing buddy…even if you like to venture out most of the time alone. You just might find it more fun and interesting to talk “shop” on the way there and hang out with a friend that shares the same addiction passion of fly fishing that you do! And you won’t end up with a picture like this one either! Ha!

Awesome Ems! I couldn’t agree more. I love the solitude and free roaming imagine of being on the water alone, but then I love the fellowship and laughter when I share the experience with friends. You’re, it’s good to learn from them too! Still say be have to do that some day soon!
