Fly Fishing Idaho, Selway River

Fly Fishing Idaho

Most people I’ve spoken to have never heard of the Selway River, even those that are from Idaho.  But this White Water gem is also a fly fisherman’s paradise!

Three friends and I spent 4 days white water rafting/fly fishing the Selway River a week ago and it sounds hokie, but I think we averaged 60-75 fish apiece.  Many of there were just little 4 – 8 inch native cutts, but you can catch these fish on top and sub surface.  The biggest ones we caught were pushing 16-17 inches. We also saw some dying Chinook Salmon that run up the Selway River to spawn.  Needless to say it was a blast.

I took a GoPro video camera with me and caught some of the excitement.  I’ve been messing around with imovie from Apple and put together a little trailer video to wet your appetite.  I will have a more detailed vid and pics coming soon.

For now, here is the trailer.

Appetites are whetted, not wetted. I look forward to the rest of the video.

Thanks JW! It is a great white water/fly fishing trip.

Imovie is pretty sweet. I’m impressed how easy it is to use.
