Evening Caddis Hatch

Provo River

Last Wednesday night I hit the lower Provo River for a caddis hatch.  The video pretty much tells it all but I ran out of time on the camera to give a little wrap up.  It was one of the best nights on the lower Provo River in a couple years.  I can’t really put my finger on why it was so fun because I have had nights where I caught more fish and bigger fish but for some reason it just turned out more enjoyable.  And just for the record the fish I show in the video really was pushing 20 inches, it might not look it but the measure net never lies.

I have been using a cool app for my Android phone called my tracks and in this post I have included the data I tracked from my trip that night.  Kind of cool all the stuff it tracks.  I used it this last Frenzy trip into Montana and Idaho.  It was great to track myself and mark exact spots that we had success even cooler you can send it right to my Gmail maps account.

Looks like a sweet night on the provo, this summer has sucked for river flows but been awesome with the thunderstorms. Fished through town on Saturday night, river still high. Caught two larger browns in the side eddies. It is good to see the canyon water a little lower.
