I was thinking of some of the items and fly fishing gear that I got this year that I am thankful for every time I go fishing. Here are my four items that I would recomend to everyone.
First thing is my hemostats from The Montana Fly Company. I have about a dozen or so pair of hemostats because it seems like it is one of those free gifts you get from expos and shops. This past year I have been using this pair of mitten hemostats and because of my fat fingers I love not having to squeeze my fingers in the slots of all other types.
Second item is my measure net. The net is lite, telescopes about 10 inches, is a big net (for those huge fish I always catch) and yes has a tape measure at the bottom. There are a few different sizes the company sells but i would suggest the size just below the guide net.
Third item is my Fishpond pack. I think above everything this is my favorite item. It has too many bells and whistles to mention. Bottom line here is it is versatile and will make you river experience much better.
Last item is a new Lefty Kreh TiCrX Temple Fork Outfitters fly rod. I really like this rod. It isn’t my favorite fly rod but I really love the way it casts and that it is a four piece.
I want to follow up this post with a list of the our top ten Christmas gift items for this year so stay tuned.
