Long Time Coming
Last week I went fishing with the person that first got me into fly fishing.
While I was on a family vacation in Yellowstone my Uncle Daren took me to the upper Firehole River, gave me a caddis fly, told me where to cast and said cast in that hole there are tons of brook trout. 8 fish later I was the happiest kid around. After that day I knew that fly fishing was it. Even though I really didn’t get neck deep in fly fishing till I was in high school if it wasn’t for that day on the Firehole River I would have never been involved in the best sport known to man.
Daren and I on Saturday hit the Middle Provo River and had a wonderful day. Again, like ever day I am sure, midges were hatching and we were landing fish.
Like most of you know my dad past away a few years ago from cancer. My dad was one of my heroes and best friends. Daren my Dad and I would fish quite often together and going out with Daren we instantly were in discussion about my Dad and the memories we had together of him fishing, Daren even shared with me stories of the two of them that I hadn’t before heard. I can’t even remember that last time we fished together but this last week was tons of fun and was a long time coming.

This is truely what fishing is all about ,it is about memories ,of good times with others ,or yourself ,and time to reflect on life and how it is really going .Out there is a different place ,filled with dreams and beauty .we get to see ourselves as beings and not just humans .
I dont get to fish with my father much anymore ,but when I do , it is time cherished in my mind . Nice post man !
