4-17-2009-11-54-24-amDan T. Cook is rowing 3,700 miles across the Heart of America.

I was chatting him on Friday for a bit and he was telling me that things were going well and he is surviving despite rain, thunderstorms and a bummed shoulder.

The Heart of America Campaign started to help raise public awareness of issues facing disabled veterans and their families.   Rivers of Recovery founder Dan T. Cook is rowing a boat 3,700 miles from Three Forks, Montana to the Gulf of Mexico. Events are planned in each of the cities listed on the sites events page.

Dan wants to encourage all businesses, military and civic organizations along the route to become involved.  Show your support for our brave servicemen and servicewomen and help raise funding for an effective and therapeutic recreational program. Rivers of Recovery is open to veterans of all eras and specializes in treating veterans with physical disabilities, PTSD and traumatic brain injury.

The Heart of America website is designed to maximize your interest and participation in it’s unique and challenging project.  Among the interactive features that you will find is the ability to upload your photos and stories. There is also a discussion forum which gives you an opportunity to ask questions, post your comments and view trip progress reports.  I have been on it many times and it really is awesome to see the progress Dan is making.

You can also follow progress and comments on the Rivers of Recovery’s Facebook page.

Here at the Frenzy we love what Dan is doing and want to encourage everyone to save his website in your “Favorites” and check back as often as you like. Please spread the word your participation will ensure the success of the Heart of America campaign!
